5 Signs Your Home Decor Business Looks Unprofessional

What is your home décor business composed of? It is not just the products you put on sale, be it cushions, paintings, furniture, or accessories.

How you present these products may also define your business as a serious contender in the industry.

If you are not cautious, you will appear not professional enough to be considered a reliable provider of home décor services.

If you are not paying attention to certain aspects of your presentation, you may make unnecessary mistakes.

Luckily, it is always possible to improve the appearance of your brand image without spending a fortune on designers or blowing up your budget.

What you must do is ensure that everything looks consistent and pay attention to detail.

Customers will appreciate your coherent branding efforts and the care you put into showcasing and selling your wares.

Below are some of the tell-tale signs that your home décor business lacks professionalism.

You Use Inconsistent Branding Across Your Business

Your brand needs to convey the same image everywhere it is presented to the audience.

If your logo on social media business is different from the one in your packing materials, and the website color scheme and fonts do not match them, it makes your customers puzzled.

Having an overall view of the brand’s appearance is one of those things that make your business seem more significant in clients’ eyes.

You can achieve this simply by putting together a logo, having two to three colors to represent your brand, and a couple of fonts that will suit the brand image.

An online logo maker can also help you achieve that if you want to get a well-designed graphic without contacting a professional designer.

The main point is that you use the chosen visual elements consistently in all materials, such as social media, website, packaging, etc.

Doing that will give your home decor business a more organized and trustworthy appearance that your customers will easily remember you by.

You Overlook the Small Details Around Your Products

Sometimes it is not your products that are at fault. It is the surrounding details that can make your business appear unfinished.

Even the exterior details that could ruin the freshness of your recently painted property should inspire you to think about the additional aspects that could affect your final output.

This could be true when you are uploading photos on your website.

Imagine you have a beautifully decorated room, but the image becomes a mess because you have missed a few details.

Take a closer look at your product displays, backgrounds, shelves, packing, signs, and the corners of your photos.

Make sure there are no additional items distracting the eye.

You should also eliminate broken or tilted objects, and ensure that the environment enhances your products instead of overshadowing them.

Your customers need to be able to notice the beauty of your decor pieces first.

A well-presented product and a clean space will tell them that you are knowledgeable about the smallest detail.

People desire this quality the most when they choose someone to create an interior they adore.

You Rely on Poor-quality Product Photographs

Your customers cannot touch your products on a screen, which means that photographs have to do a lot of the work.

When you use dark, blurry, overly filtered, or cluttered pictures, it can make your wonderful decor pieces look cheap.

You do not necessarily need to buy a high-end camera; a modern phone, natural lighting, and a tidy location can give you great results too.

You should use a few techniques such as photographing your products from multiple useful angles and including at least one picture that somehow shows the scale of your products.

For instance, you could take a close-up shot of a cushion to see the fabric, and then a photo of the same cushion on a sofa.

This way, a customer will be able to view the material and judge its size relative to other furniture.

You should not edit your photos too differently either, or one product will look warm, while another product might look like it has a cool tone.

Clear pictures allow buyers to be confident before they contact you.

You Make Your Business Social Media Look Abandoned

You do not need to post every few hours from your business account, but when you completely abandon the account, it can make a potential customer feel uneasy.

Suppose someone finds your business while browsing social media but then realizes that the last activity was months ago, the products are old, and some questions are unanswered.

They might think that the account is not active anymore.

Your social media account needs to keep your customers engaged and give them the feeling that there is a real person available and responding to them behind the account.

You can do this by posting finished products, giving out simple styling tips, informing customers about your new arrivals, and showing them some behind-the-scenes action. It might also help if you post old products as well so that the customer can see the growth of your brand.

You do not have to aim for a perfect magazine-like feed but rather offer a personal experience to the customers and show that you care and are open to talk to them.

You Use Packaging That Does Not Match the Quality of Your Products

Final impressions are often defined by the packaging of your goods. It does not necessarily have to be something grand, but it should be something that the customers would like.

You should focus on packing materials and the overall appearance.

After all, a presentable package makes a great final impression.

Take a closer look at the colors you use along with your labels and stickers. You can leave thank-you notes and wrap each product so that they remain protected.

You want to create a memorable experience for your client while keeping the design simple. In addition, you do not need to include many unnecessary gimmicks.

A small note about the materials will be a fantastic addition to your packaging.

Most importantly, make sure all of your labels are glued correctly, and the packaging is clean.

These little things will make your clients come back to your home decor business again and again.

After all, the overall presentation plays a vital role in how they perceive the quality of your goods.

Final Thoughts

Your home decor business may not always require an expensive design to appear sophisticated and professional.

For starters, you should strive to appeal to what the customers truly want.

Most buyers will appreciate you if you have a recognizable brand and high-quality images rather than an overdone presentation. You should also aim to keep everything as straightforward as possible.

Think about the following questions: “Can your customers recognize the brand simply by looking at the image? Does the packaging look elegant? Is there consistency in the way you are presenting your brand?

Above all, you should try to understand if the overall experience resembles an exclusive feel similar to what you have shown on your webpage.

You should begin with the most apparent flaw and work through everything slowly.

You should go over the pictures, descriptions, social media posts, and packaging.

Altogether, these seemingly minor changes could improve your brand image significantly, and you can provide the customer with a trustworthy and reliable company to buy from.
